A Ranchi-based commerce student has emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation process. After challenging her marks in English and Business Studies, Avani Kejriwal saw her score rise by 24 marks, taking her overall result from 95.2 per cent to a flawless 500 out of 500.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the Class 12 revaluation results on June 22, bringing with it a remarkable success story from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Avani Kejriwal, a commerce student from Delhi Public School (DPS) SAIL Township, Dhurwa, saw her score rise dramatically after re-evaluation, ultimately securing a perfect 500 out of 500 and emerging among the country’s top commerce stream performers. The achievement has once again highlighted the importance of the re-evaluation process, which allows students to seek a review of their answer sheets when they believe their performance has not been accurately assessed.

From 95.2 percent to a perfect score

When the CBSE Class 12 results were declared on May 13, Avani had secured 95.2 per cent, a score that reflected strong academic performance. However, she remained unconvinced that the marks awarded in certain subjects matched her expectations.Despite already securing full marks in three subjects, she believed there were discrepancies in the evaluation of some papers, particularly English and Business Studies.

Confidence in her performance led to re-evaluation

According to an interview conducted by Asian News International (ANI), Avani said she had complete faith in the quality of her answers and therefore chose to apply for re-evaluation.“Everyone is very happy right now. We weren’t expecting 500 marks, but everyone is very happy. I had 19 marks deducted in English, which I wasn’t expecting. English is my favourite subject and was my strongest one. That’s why I applied for re-evaluation. There were also 5 marks deducted in Business Studies. I had already gotten 100/100 in 3 subjects. Now my score has increased by 24 marks,” she told ANI.Her confidence ultimately proved justified.

Marks increased by 24 after review

Following the re-evaluation process, CBSE revised her marks upward, resulting in an overall increase of 24 marks. The revision transformed her aggregate score into a flawless 500 out of 500.Avani secured full marks in all five core commerce subjects, English Core, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and Applied Mathematics. She also scored 99 marks in Graphics, her additional subject. The revised score placed her among the highest achievers in the commerce stream and turned an already excellent result into an extraordinary accomplishment.

Why Avani’s case stands out

Thousands of students apply for verification and re-evaluation every year, hoping to address potential errors in the assessment process. In most cases, changes in marks are limited. Significant increases, however, are relatively rare.Avani’s case stands out not only because of the 24-mark jump but also because it resulted in a perfect score. Her journey demonstrates how the re-evaluation mechanism can play a crucial role in ensuring that students receive marks that accurately reflect their performance.

A story of conviction and perseverance

For Avani and her family, the revised result is more than an academic milestone. It is a testament to the value of trusting one’s preparation and pursuing available remedies when there is genuine confidence in one’s performance. From an initial score of 95.2 per cent to a perfect 500 out of 500 after re-evaluation, Avani Kejriwal’s achievement has emerged as one of the most remarkable stories from the CBSE Class 12 examination cycle this year, underscoring the impact that a second review can sometimes have on a student’s future.
