Angelina Jolie is opening up like never before about life, motherhood and rediscovering herself as she gears up for the release of ‘Couture’, her most personal role yet.The Oscar-winning actress, who will play the lead in the drama directed by Alice Winocour, in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, revealed that she has not dated anyone since the end of her marriage to actor Brad Pitt. In the film, Jolie stars as Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker who receives a breast cancer diagnosis while working in Paris during Fashion Week, forcing her to reassess her life, relationships and identity.

Speaking about the film and its parallels in her life, she revealed that portraying Maxine challenged some of her own assumptions about romance following her divorce. “To be candid, I haven’t dated since I divorced a decade ago,” she said. “So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centred in my life if I’m focusing on my children, my family.”She went on to add, “It took me a second to kind of say, well, she can also love her daughter and be dedicated to her daughter and also need this as a woman and receive this as a woman.”The actress filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016, after a decade long relationship and two years of marriage.

While ‘Couture’ features a romantic storyline, Jolie believes the film’s most powerful relationship is the one between a mother and daughter. She added that the idea of reexamining priorities also resonates far beyond the screen. “It doesn’t feel like I’m 51 and starting to think of being older. I’m thinking I have to live again. Be free again. In a way that maybe life has broken me a little bit.”

The actress also reflected on her own life with her kids and shared, “I’m discovering something now that my daughters are older. They’re talking to me as young women, and I’m seeing what I want for them. I’m seeing what I don’t want them to lose and what I want them to hold on to. And it’s kind of reminding me what I may have lost.”The actress shares six children with former husband Brad Pitt – sons Maddox, Pax, and Knox, and daughters Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne.
