The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has started the registration process for candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Engineering (BE), and other engineering programmes in the state. Students who have qualified the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 can apply through the official website, jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in.According to the official schedule, candidates can complete the registration process until July 2, 2026. The application correction window will open on July 3, allowing applicants to make necessary changes in their submitted forms.The board will publish the Jharkhand State Merit List 2026 on July 5 for admission to engineering courses offered by government, deemed, and private colleges across the state.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for Jharkhand engineering admissions 2026, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the following subjects:

  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Electronics
  • Information Technology
  • Biology
  • Informatics Practices
  • Biotechnology
  • Technical Vocational Subject
  • Agriculture
  • Engineering Graphics
  • Business Studies
  • Entrepreneurship

Candidates should have secured at least 45 per cent marks in these subjects taken together. For reserved category candidates, the minimum required marks are 40 per cent.Students who have passed the Diploma in Vocational Education (D.Voc.) stream in the same or an allied sector are also eligible.In addition, applicants must be Indian citizens and local or permanent residents of Jharkhand. Candidates claiming local residency will have to submit a valid Local Resident Certificate issued by the competent authority.

Application fee

Candidates belonging to the General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Backward Class-I (BC-I), and Backward Class-II (BC-II) categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs 500.Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and female candidates need to pay Rs 250. Persons with disabilities from any category are exempted from paying the registration fee.The fee can be paid online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

State merit list and reservation policy

The Jharkhand State Merit List 2026 will be prepared on the basis of candidates’ JEE Main 2026 scores and the information provided in the online application form.The board has clarified that if a candidate claims a category different from the one mentioned in the JEE Main 2026 application form, the candidate will generally be considered under the unreserved category. However, exceptions may be allowed in cases where there are differences between the Central and State caste lists, subject to submission of valid caste certificates.Candidates who had selected Other Backward Classes (OBC) in JEE Main 2026 will be allowed to choose either BC-I or BC-II during the state admission process.Admissions will be conducted according to the reservation policy currently followed by the Jharkhand government. Candidates seeking reservation benefits must submit the required caste, disability, or income certificates in the prescribed format.

Additional reservation benefits

As per the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), 5 per cent supernumerary seats are available in each branch for eligible candidates under the specified category.Candidates applying under the Economically Weaker Section category must provide a valid income certificate showing annual family income of up to Rs 8 lakh, issued by the competent authority.Students are advised to complete their registration before the July 2 deadline and carefully verify all details to avoid issues during the counselling and admission process.
