Calendar-adjusted Dutch retail turnover up 3.4% in Apr 2026: CBS

Calendar-adjusted Dutch retail turnover was 3.4 per cent higher year on year (YoY) in April this year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

Sales volume was up by 2.6 per cent YoY.

Turnover in the non-food sector (including retail not in shops) increased by 3.5 per cent YoY in the month. Sales volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) in the sector was up by 3.1 per cent YoY.

Calendar-adjusted Dutch retail turnover was 3.4 per cent higher YoY in April, official data show.
Sales volume was up by 2.6 per cent YoY.
Turnover in apparel shops grew by 1.7 per cent YoY, while the same in shops selling home furnishings was virtually the same as in April 2025.
However, turnover in shops selling footwear and leather products was down by 3.6 per cent YoY in April.

Meanwhile, online retail turnover in the Netherlands rose by 5.9 per cent YoY in April. Online retailers (whose core activity is selling goods and services over the internet) recorded an increase in turnover of 6.2 per cent YoY. Online turnover among multi-channel retailers, i.e., retailers selling goods and services over the internet as a secondary activity, was up by 5.5 per cent YoY.

Online turnover for clothing and fashion rose by 7.2 per cent YoY in April, a CBS release said.

Without calendar adjustment, retail turnover in April would have been 3 per cent higher YoY.
