The upcoming film Police Complaint is at the centre of a controversy ahead of its release. During the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, director Sanjeev Megoti accused actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar of being uncooperative with the crew during the movie’s promotional campaign. According to the director, despite several attempts, the actress was unavailable to promote the film. His remarks soon became a topic of discussion among audiences and members of the film industry.

Varalaxmi shares her side of the story

Responding to the allegations during an interaction with SCREEN, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar offered a measured response. “I was there when they needed me,” the actress said. She further explained that she was unaware of the director’s specific comments at the event and wanted to know the complete context before reacting.“I haven’t been told about whatever he’s said, so I don’t want to say anything,” she added.Her response has since drawn attention, with fans awaiting further clarity on the issue.

Varalaxmi chooses not to escalate the matter

While many expected a strong rebuttal, Varalaxmi made it clear that she was not interested in engaging in a public war of words. The actress said she had her own reasons regarding the matter but did not wish to discuss them publicly.“I have my reasons, and I don’t feel like refuting the movie people’s claims,” she remarked.Her decision to avoid escalating the controversy has earned praise from some fans, who have appreciated her restrained approach.

‘Police Complaint’ set for release amid the controversy

Despite the row, Police Complaint is scheduled to hit theatres on June 12. Directed by Sanjeev Megoti, the horror-action thriller explores the consequences of karma. The film features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Naveen Chandra, Krishna Sai and Ragini Dwivedi in key roles.
