Indian textile industry poised to hit $350 bn by 2030: Minister

India’s domestic textile market has grown from about ₹6 trillion (~$63 billion) in fiscal 2014-15 (FY15) to over ₹16 trillion (~$168.2 billion) now, reflecting the sector’s robust expansion and increasing contribution to the national economy, according to Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh.

The country’s textile industry has expanded to nearly $190 billion in FY26 and is poised to hit $350 billion by 2030, the Ministry of Textiles said in a press release.

India’s domestic textile market has grown from about $63 billion in FY15 to over $168.2 billion now, reflecting robust expansion and increasing contribution to the economy, according to Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh.

India has emerged as a major force in technical textiles as well.

The textile and apparel sector provides direct employment to more than 53 million people and is expected to generate nearly 20 million additional jobs over the next three years, he said in a statement issued by the ministry.

India has emerged as a major force in technical textiles as well, with the market expanding from about $6 billion to $25 billion under the National Technical Textiles Mission, the minister said.

Large-scale investments in research, innovation, incubation and industry-academia collaboration are helping build a future-ready textile ecosystem, he noted.

Singh further noted that significant progress has also been achieved in textile infrastructure through the development of integrated textile parks and seven PM MITRA Parks across states, which are expected to attract investments worth ₹700 billion and generate approximately 2.1 million employment opportunities.
