Dr Soumya Dixit, a young MBBS graduate from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh who was preparing for the NEET-PG examination, has died by suicide.According to information shared online, Dr Dixit left behind a note in which she spoke about her mental health struggles. In the note, she wrote, “I can no longer bear the depression, anxiety, and despair. No one else is responsible. I apologise to everyone.”Her death comes at a time when concerns over the mental health of medical aspirants and competitive exam candidates remain high. The incident comes weeks after the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 following a major paper leak controversy. The examination, originally conducted on May 3, was cancelled on May 12 after allegations that questions similar to those in the paper had circulated before the test.According to reports, at least 14 medical aspirants have died by suicide in 2026 amid the uncertainty and stress surrounding medical entrance examinations.
