Groundwork for the first phase of the proposed PM MITRA textile park near Kalaburagi in India’s Karnataka state will commence soon, according to the state’s home, information technology, biotechnology and e-governance minister Priyank Kharge.

The textile park is being developed over 1,000 acres in the first phase, and is expected to emerge as a major industrial hub for the Kalyana Karnataka region.
The project would be developed under a ‘plug-and-play’ model, enabling investors to commence production with minimal delay, he was cited as saying by media reports from the state.
The first phase of work would focus on creating core infrastructure, including civil and land development, construction of internal roads and a modern drainage network for efficient stormwater management, he said.
The park will be equipped with underground high-tension and low-tension power distribution lines, and energy-efficient solar street lighting, he informed.
A comprehensive water management system would also be set up.
The project will incorporate a state-of-the-art common effluent treatment plant with a capacity of 2.5 million litres per day, supported by a dedicated pipeline network. The treatment facility will operate on zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology to minimise environmental impact.
