The return of ‘Mallu’ Arjun’s ‘Happy’ to theatres in Kerala has turned into a festive occasion for movie lovers. The 4K remastered Malayalam version of the film hit theatres on June 11 and has been receiving a great response from audiences across the state.Nearly two decades after its original release, the romantic entertainer continues to enjoy immense popularity among Kerala viewers.

Anaswara Rajan joins fans in theatres

Actress Anaswara Rajan was among those who attended a screening of the film during its re-release run. She was accompanied by her sister Aiswarya Rajan and a group of friends.Sharing one of the videos, Aiswarya Rajan wrote, “Childhood jukebox in theatres Definitely watch happy be happy in theatres Savitha 12-06-2026 3pm show Happybehappy, happy, alluarjun, 90’s, concert, theatre, love, dance, jukebox, vibe, friends.”

Film played key role in Allu Arjun‘s Kerala popularity

Directed by A. Karunakaran, ‘Happy’ occupies a special place in Allu Arjun’s career. The film was among the early Telugu movies that helped the actor build a loyal fan base in Kerala and earned him the name ‘Mallu Arjun’. Released in Malayalam as ‘Happy Be Happy’, the film emerged as a major success.The film’s soundtrack, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also became hugely popular.The re-release has also performed impressively at the Kerala box office. Reports suggest that the 4K version collected approximately Rs 27-30 lakh gross on its opening day.
