GID Textile Egypt discusses expansion plans with industry minister

Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem recently discussed with Selim Sankaya, chief executive officer of GID Textile Egypt Group, part of the Turkish industrial enterprise Eroglu Global Holding, the company’s domestic expansion plans and its strategy to boost investments and exports.

The company, which operates three manufacturing facilities in Borg El Arab, 10th of Ramadan City and Ismailia, employing around 15,000 workers, aims at raising its exports this year.

Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem recently discussed with Selim Sankaya, CEO of GID Textile Egypt Group, part of the Turkiye’s Eroglu Global Holding, the company’s expansion plans and its strategy to boost investments and exports.
The minister welcomed the company’s proposal to attract Turkish firms specialising in textile waste recycling to invest in Egypt.

The two sides reviewed the group’s current operations in Egypt, where it has been operating since 2008.

The discussions covered increasing production capacities at its existing factories in the country and setting up new facilities to support export-oriented growth, according to a news agency.

The strategy further includes the adoption of sustainability and green manufacturing practices, particularly in textile dyeing and the production of advanced fabrics, including high-performance polyester.

The minister welcomed the company’s proposal to attract Turkish firms specialising in textile waste recycling to invest in Egypt.
