Modi also met top EU leaders, and they stressed on the quick signing and implementation of the India-EU FTA.

Both reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, according to a release from the Indian Prime Minister’s Office.

They reviewed the progress achieved under the Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce and Technology (IndiaUS COMPACT) since their meeting in Washington, DC, in February 2025.

Modi also met European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The leaders discussed progress on the joint India-EU comprehensive strategic agenda endorsed in January this year and felt that it would further reinforce India-EU strategic partnership and deliver mutually beneficial and transformative outcomes.

They stressed on the expeditious signing and implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement, which would unlock huge opportunities for trade and investment and contribute towards diversification of supply chains, particularly in the current turbulent geopolitical context.
