Discover the Silent River Escape: A Private Catamaran Adventure in Bhitarkanika, ETTravelWorld

Antara Cruises has expanded its portfolio with the launch of “The Silent River Escape”, a new private catamaran experience in Odisha’s Bhitarkanika region.

The two-night, three-day itinerary operates along the Gupti–Dhamra–Kanika Island–Gupti route and is designed to offer travellers a personalised exploration of the region’s waterways, cultural sites and natural landscapes. The launch comes at a time when the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary remains closed for the season, providing visitors with an alternative way to experience the destination beyond its wildlife attractions.

The voyage is operated aboard Antara Catamarans, each featuring two suites and accommodating up to six guests. With a dedicated five-member crew onboard, the experience is positioned for private holidays, family gatherings and special occasions. Antara operates four catamarans, enabling groups of up to 24 guests to travel together across multiple vessels.

The itinerary begins at Gupti with lunch onboard before sailing towards Dhamra. Guests can spend the evening on the sundeck while enjoying river views, followed by dinner onboard. On the second day, travellers visit the Dhamra Temple for puja and darshan before continuing to Kanika Island, where the vessel anchors amid the region’s mangrove landscape. The final day includes a return cruise to Gupti with breakfast served onboard.

The company said the programme aims to highlight the ecological and cultural significance of the Bhitarkanika region, showcasing local heritage, waterways and communities alongside its natural environment.

Accommodation onboard includes fully air-conditioned suites, a lounge and dining area, outdoor decks and a range of onboard amenities. Dining forms a key part of the experience, with menus featuring Odia cuisine, Indian dishes and international options. Vegetarian and vegan meal preferences can also be accommodated.

The package includes meals, beverages, guided activities, wildlife and destination talks, cooking sessions, shore excursions and entry fees.

Priced at INR 100,000 for a private catamaran accommodating up to four guests, with options available for up to six guests at an additional cost, the itinerary targets travellers seeking small-group, experiential and river-based leisure travel experiences in eastern India.
