5 budget-friendly countries Indians can visit this July

A super short hop from India, Sri Lanka packs a punch: wildlife, rolling tea estates, and stunning coastline, all on a shoestring. Flights out of major Indian hubs frequently drop to around ₹12,000, making an island escape totally doable.

You won’t struggle to find budget guesthouses here. Local meals are incredibly affordable. Public buses and trains are among the cheapest ways to travel around the country. Plus, the current exchange rate works heavily in favor of Indian travellers.

The southwest gets pretty wet in July, so you’ll want to head straight for the east coast. Spots like Trincomalee and Arugam Bay are perfect right now, sunny skies, great beaches, and solid opportunities for surfing and whale watching. If you want a break from the sand, check out the ancient ruins in Sigiriya and Anuradhapura, or ride that famous, ridiculously scenic train through the hills of Ella and Kandy.

Visa information

Indian travellers should check the latest ETA requirements before departure, as Sri Lanka’s visa policies and fee waivers have changed several times in recent years.
