Bangladesh hosts Italian textile tech delegation

A delegation of 11 Italian small and medium companies specialising in textile innovation and technology has arrived in Bangladesh to promote trade links and business contacts with the country’s textile and apparel industries, according to the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry.The programme includes presentations, business-to-business meetings and visits to factories in Dhaka and Chittagong. It is being conducted in collaboration with BGMEA, BTMA, BKMEA and the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with support from Honorary Consul of Italy Salman Ispahani.

Eleven Italian small and medium companies specialising in textile innovation and technology have arrived in Bangladesh for trade promotion.
The programme covers presentations, business-to-business meetings and factory visits in Dhaka and Chittagong with local industry bodies.
For manufacturers and sourcing teams, the focus is technology for sustainability, logistics and global demand.

The delegation is accompanied by Italian regional trade commissioner Antonietta Baccanari and officials from ITA and ACIMIT.

At the opening session at Crowne Plaza in Gulshan, Ambassador Alessandro said Italian companies had contributed to the development of Bangladesh’s textile industry and now aimed to provide technology to address sustainability, logistics and global demand challenges.

Baccanari said Italy exported approximately €71 million (~$83 million) worth of textile machinery to Bangladesh in 2025. The source also said ACIMIT represents over 300 companies exporting about €1.7 billion (~$2 billion) annually.

The participating companies are Color Services, Corino Macchine, Danti Paolo, Durst, LAIP, Lawer, Pinter Caipo, Reggiani Macchine, Salvadè, Tecnorama and Ugolini.

The event also included remarks from BKMEA president Mohammad Hatem, BTMA director Chowdhury Hanif Shoeb and BGMEA director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury.
