Bangladesh’s $7.3 bn MMF boom has a 90% supply problem
Bangladesh exported $7.33 billion of selected MMF apparel in 2025, but imported $3.07 billion of MMF inputs, with China, India and Taiwan supplying 90.0 per cent.
Woven fabrics accounted for 66.1 per cent of imports, highlighting reliance on upstream textile imports.
Future competitiveness depends on expanding domestic yarn, fabric and finishing capabilities.
