Brazil’s cotton prices declined in June after four consecutive monthly gains as weaker international prices and buyer pressure weighed on the domestic market, according to CEPEA.
Despite subdued trading, cotton exports remained robust and are on course for a record June.
Shipments in the 2025/26 season have already exceeded 3.1 million tonnes, up 11 per cent year on year.
Brazil’s export performance, however, remained strong. Preliminary data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) showed cotton exports reached 146,800 tonnes during the first 14 business days of June. Although this was 49.6 per cent below May’s total, it was 10.6 per cent higher than the volume exported in the same period of June 2025.
The daily shipment average stood at 10,490 tonnes, up 57.9 per cent from 6,640 tonnes a year earlier. If this pace continues through the month, Brazil’s cotton exports are projected to reach around 220,000 tonnes in June, setting a new record for the month and exceeding the previous high of 160,400 tonnes recorded in June 2024.
For the 2025/26 marketing season, spanning August 2025 through the third week of June 2026, Brazil’s cotton exports have surpassed 3.1 million tonnes, representing an 11 per cent increase compared with the corresponding period of the previous season.
