Brazil’s Petrobras completes stake buy in Block 3 offshore Africa

Petrobras , following up on its announcement of April 17, 2026, informs that it has completed the acquisition of a stake and the assumption of operations for Block 3 , located offshore São Tomé and Príncipe, in Africa.With the completion of the transaction, the consortium will be composed of Petrobras (operator, with a 75% stake) in partnership with the company Oranto (15%) and the National Petroleum Agency of São Tomé and Príncipe (10%).

Petrobras has completed the acquisition of its stake and assumed operation of block 3 offshore São Tomé and Príncipe in Africa.
The consortium is now led by Petrobras with 75 per cent, alongside Oranto and the national petroleum agency.
The company says the move supports reserve replacement through new oil and gas exploration frontiers in Brazil and abroad.

This operation aligns with Petrobras’ strategy of replenishing oil and gas reserves through the exploration of new frontiers, both in Brazil and abroad, as foreseen in its Business Plan. The evaluation of new opportunities aims to diversify the company’s exploration portfolio, promoting value creation and the long-term sustainability of its business.
