China exports $22.72 bn of fabric in Jan-April; top 5 markets take 41%

According to sourcing intelligence tool TexPro, fabric exports measured by length remained the backbone of China**;s shipments. During the four-month period, China exported **.*** billion metres of fabric worth $**.*** billion, compared with **.*** billion metres valued at $**.*** billion a year earlier. While export volume increased by about *.* per cent, the average export price slipped slightly to $*.** per metre from $*.** per metre, indicating continued pricing pressure despite higher shipment volumes.

Fabric exports measured by weight also expanded. China shipped ***.*** million kg worth $*.*** billion, up from ***.*** million kg valued at $*.*** billion in the corresponding period of ****. The average export price remained broadly stable at around $*.** per kg, compared with approximately $*.** per kg a year earlier. Shipments measured in square metres totalled *,*** square metres valued at $**,***, with an average unit value of $*.** per square metre.

Vietnam remained China**;s largest export destination, importing $*.*** billion worth of fabric and accounting for **.** per cent of total exports, although shipments were marginally lower than $*.*** billion in January-April ****. Bangladesh retained the second position with imports worth $*.*** billion, representing **.** per cent of China**;s exports, compared with $*.*** billion and **.** per cent, a year earlier.

Cambodia posted the strongest growth among the leading markets, with imports rising to $*.*** billion from $*.*** billion, lifting its share to *.** per cent from *.** per cent. Indonesia imported $***.** million worth of fabric, accounting for *.** per cent of total exports, while Myanmar**;s imports increased to $***.** million, raising its share to *.** per cent from *.** per cent a year earlier.
