Egypt eyes global logistics hub in Suez Canal Economic Zone

Egypt is pursuing ambitious plans to attract more investment into the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), including a proposal to establish a global logistics distribution centre within the zone, Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said, according to the Egyptian government’s official public relations and media agency.

He also added that several international companies have already submitted offers for the project, which aligns with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to maximise the benefits of national projects, strengthen foreign direct investment inflows, and reinforce Egypt’s role as a regional and global hub for trade, logistics, and supply chains.

Egypt is advancing plans to establish a global logistics distribution centre in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as part of efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen its position in global trade and supply chains.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said several international firms have already submitted proposals, with the initiative aligned to President El Sisi’s economic and logistics ambitions.

The remarks came during a meeting held on June 1, 2026, to review the proposal for the logistics distribution centre. The meeting was attended by Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib, SCZONE Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din, Deputy Chairman for Investment and Promotion Affairs Mostafa Sheikhou, GAFI CEO Dr Mohamed Awad, and other officials.

Madbouly stressed the importance of cooperating with serious companies and finalising agreements with them to achieve the positive objectives of the project, official media reported.
