EU and India used their third Trade and Technology Council meeting in Brussels to prioritise resilient value chains, market access and business engagement.
Exporters, importers and sourcing teams may see follow-up on technical regulations, digital trust services and standards.
Working groups will report regularly as both sides prepare the next ministerial meeting.
The cooperation agenda spans digital connectivity and strategic technologies, clean and green technologies, and trade, investment and resilient value chains.
The meeting was the third TTC session and reaffirmed the council as a central platform for cooperation on trade, technology and security.
It said both sides committed to finalising an upgrade of the TTC by the end of 2026 and to opening formal negotiations on India’s association to Horizon Europe, with the aim of concluding before the end of 2026.
The EU and India also agreed to establish an Innovation Hub on electric vehicle charging technologies and testing, launch a startup partnership focused on deep tech clean technologies, and continue technical work on interoperability and mutual recognition of digital trust services, including digital wallets. On trade, the meeting covered market access issues, including sanitary and phytosanitary applications, and reiterated support for World Trade Organization (WTO) reform.
Ministers tasked the TTC working groups with taking the agreed actions forward as a priority and reporting regularly on progress, the European Commission said. Technical work will continue in the coming months, with digital technologies, clean energy and resilient value chains identified as delivery areas ahead of the next ministerial meeting.
