From sensors to self-charging clothing: The graphene textile boom

The convergence of nanotechnology and textile engineering is creating fabrics capable of sensing movement, regulating temperature, harvesting energy, resisting microbes and even communicating data. What was once confined to laboratories is increasingly entering pilot-scale manufacturing and commercial product development, positioning graphene-based textiles among the most closely watched innovations in the global textile sector.

Graphene is often described as a ‘wonder material’ because of its exceptional combination of properties. It is highly conductive, mechanically strong, lightweight and thermally efficient. These characteristics make it particularly valuable for advanced textile applications were traditional fibres face performance limitations.
