England captain Harry Brook continued his sensational run against India by rewriting the record books during the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. With another explosive knock in the series finale, Brook became the first England batter to score more than 200 runs in a bilateral T20I series at home, underlining his dominance throughout the five-match contest. The right-hander also eclipsed Nicholas Pooran’s 184 runs from the three-match T20I series against India in 2022 to register the highest aggregate by any batter in a bilateral T20I series against India.

England’s carnage in 5th T20I

England shrugged off an early wicket to produce a batting exhibition, piling up a formidable 257/3 in 20 overs in the fifth and final T20I against India at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. The hosts suffered an early blow when Phil Salt departed for 6, but that only brought together Jos Buttler and captain Harry Brook, who completely took the game away from India. The pair stitched together a remarkable 233-run partnership for the second wicket, one of the highest second-wicket stands in T20I history, as England dominated from the Powerplay until the final over.Buttler led the charge with a scintillating 131 off 64 balls, bringing up just the second T20I century of his international career. At the other end, Brook continued his outstanding series with an unbeaten 95 off 45 deliveries, reaching his half-century in just 19 balls before falling agonisingly short of a hundred. Together, the duo dismantled the Indian bowling attack with a relentless display of clean hitting, propelling England to one of their highest-ever T20I totals. For India, Shivam Dube (2/22) picked up two wickets in consecutive balls in the penultimate over in the form of Buttler and Jacob Bethell, who made a first-ball duck. Prasidh Krishna (1/38) was the other wicket-taker for India.India have already lost the five-match series after conceding a 0-3 lead.
