ISRO launches Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026: Check eligibility, key dates and how to apply

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the third edition of the Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon, a national innovation competition aimed at students interested in space technology and research.The hackathon invites students from across the country to work on real-world challenges linked to India’s growing space ambitions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from ISRO scientists, researchers and domain experts through mentorship sessions during the competition. ISRO has also said that participants may be considered for internship opportunities with the space agency.The hackathon features 15 challenge statements covering areas such as artificial intelligence, climate modelling, satellite imagery, air quality monitoring, agriculture, exoplanet detection, lunar exploration, solar flare forecasting and satellite operations.Some of the challenges include using AI and machine learning to address urban heat, detecting subsurface ice near the Moon’s south pole using Chandrayaan-2 data, forecasting solar flares using data from Aditya-L1, and developing an AI-powered digital twin of India’s climate.

ISRO Hackathon: Who can apply?

Undergraduate students, graduate and postgraduate students, as well as PhD students and research scholars, can take part in the competition. Teams must consist of three to four members and can include students from different colleges or universities.Participation is completely free and there are no registration or submission charges.

Bhartiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026: Important dates

Registrations and idea submissions opened on June 10 and will remain open until July 1.ISRO will conduct problem statement explainer sessions on June 15 and June 16. The final shortlist of teams will be announced on July 20, followed by an induction session on July 21.The grand finale is scheduled to take place on August 6 and 7.Direct link to apply for ISRO Hackathon 2026 is here
