Asahi Kasei’s forward osmosis–membrane distillation (FO–MD) system has been integrated by Japan’s Peptistar into its API trial production facility.
The heat- and pressure-free technology concentrates pharmaceutical solutions while preserving quality, reducing freeze-drying time and improving productivity.
The system is now being evaluated at manufacturing scale for GMP-compliant production.
