JKBOPEE has begun the JKCET 2026 Round 3 mop-up counselling for BE and BTech admissions. Eligible candidates can participate until July 5 to compete for vacant engineering seats, with the Board also outlining eligibility criteria, seat upgrade rules, and restrictions for candidates who did not join or cancelled earlier allotments.

JKBOPEE has started the third round of counselling, or mop-up counselling process, for admissions to BE and BTech courses through JKCET 2026. The online counselling process commenced on July 3 and shall be available up to July 5, 2026 (midnight). This round gives another chance to the eligible candidates to get admission into vacancies left after the second round. This mop-up round has been launched in order to fill the vacant seats arising out of non-joining of candidates, resignation, surrender of seats, and unavailability of seats after completion of the second round of counselling for government and private engineering colleges in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

Mop-up round aims to fill vacant engineering seats

According to the notification issued by JKBOPEE, the latest counselling round has been launched after colleges reported a shortfall in admissions through the Board’s online joining portal. The available seats include those that became vacant following candidates’ decisions not to join allotted institutes or withdraw from the admission process. The Board has advised eligible candidates to participate within the stipulated timeline, as no requests will be entertained after the counselling window closes.

Who can participate in JKCET round 3 counselling?

JKBOPEE has outlined the categories of candidates eligible to participate in the third round of counselling. Candidates who were not allotted any seat during the first or second round can take part in the mop-up process. Those who secured a seat in the earlier rounds and successfully joined their allotted institute are also eligible to participate for upgradation, subject to the counselling rules and seat availability.Candidates who were allotted a seat during the first round but did not join, as well as those who resigned from the allotted institute before the prescribed last date of joining for the first round, are also permitted to participate in the third round for all available courses and institutions.

Restrictions for second round non-joiners

The Board has, however, imposed certain restrictions on candidates who did not accept their second-round allotments.Candidates who were allotted a seat during the second round but failed to join the allotted institution will not be permitted to opt for the same course in the same institution during the third round. However, they remain eligible to compete for other courses within the same institution and for all courses offered by other participating institutions, subject to seat availability.Similarly, candidates who cancelled their admission before the last date prescribed for second-round admissions will also be barred from seeking admission to the same course in the same institution during this round. They may, however, apply for different courses in the same institution or courses offered by other participating colleges where seats remain vacant.

Counselling window open till July 5

The online upgradation and seat allotment process will continue until midnight on July 5, 2026. During this period, eligible candidates can review the available options and exercise their preferences through the JKBOPEE counselling portal. The Board has urged aspirants to carefully evaluate their choices before submitting preferences, as allotments will be made based on merit, eligibility, seat availability, and the applicable counselling rules. Here is the link to official notice.
