KCET 2026: KEA to reopen option entry window after mock allotment result; check details

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued an important update for candidates participating in the Under Graduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET) 2026 counselling process. The authority has clarified that candidates who could not enter their college and course preferences before the deadline will get another opportunity after the mock seat allotment result is announced.According to KEA, the last date for recording preferences, also known as option entry, has now ended. However, candidates who missed the deadline do not need to worry, as they will be allowed to enter their options during the next option entry window after the mock allotment results are declared.

KEA issues clarification on option entry

In an official statement, H. Prasanna, IAS, Executive Director of KEA, said that candidates who have not yet submitted their preferences will be able to do so after the publication of the mock seat allotment result. The authority has advised candidates to use this time to prepare a list of their preferred colleges and courses so that they can complete the option entry process quickly when the next window opens.

Option modification will also be allowed

KEA has also confirmed that after the first round of the mock seat allotment, candidates will be given an opportunity to:

  • Enter new college and course options.
  • Modify the options already submitted.
  • Submit options if they had not entered any preferences earlier.

This means both candidates who want to change their choices and those who missed the earlier deadline will be able to participate in the option entry process.

What candidates should do now

Candidates are advised to regularly check the official KEA website for updates on the mock allotment schedule and the reopening of the option entry window.KEA has assured candidates that they will receive another chance to complete or update their preferences, and there is no need to worry if they were unable to submit their options before the initial deadline.
