The story of ‘Kenatha Kanom’ is set in a drought-hit village in Ramanathapuram district. Residents struggle with a severe shortage of water. They continue searching for a solution to their growing crisis. As conventional efforts fail to deliver results, the villagers turn their attention to a piece of land near the home of a local temple priest.The makers have officially announced that the movie will begin streaming on JioHotstar from June 16, 2026.

Yogi Babu plays Manivasagam who is a temple sculptor known for his sharp wit and outspoken personality. The character frequently finds himself involved in the village’s day-to-day happenings and becomes an important figure in the unfolding mystery.

While the film received mixed critical responses, several aspects earned praise. ETimes, in its review, stated, “Where Kenatha Kanom falls short is in its predictability. The route from water crisis to resolution runs straight, without enough turns to keep you genuinely curious about where it’s headed. A sequence where police round up and beat villagers sits uncomfortably against the film’s otherwise light-realism. Nivas K Prasanna’s music is a big plus as it often lends ambiance where there is none.”ETimes further observed, “A man that steals a dinosaur fossil to blackmail the government should be wilder than this. Kenatha Kanom has the premise for something memorable but settles for being pleasant.”Alongside Yogi Babu, the film stars Lovelyn Chandrasekhar and Raichal Rabecca in key roles.
