Flagging labour shortage as a major bottleneck for Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry, trade body VITAS has said competition for labour is intensifying both within the sector and from emerging sectors.
While exporters are struggling to retain workers to meet recovering export demand, manufacturers say higher wages are no longer enough to retain workers, while automation is yet to replace production.
