Maharashtra TET paper leak: What happens next? New exam date, fresh admit card and refund rules

Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has postponed the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026, which was scheduled for June 28, after a suspected question paper leak was reported from Bhiwandi. The decision was taken after officials verified that some of the material seized by the police matched questions from the TET paper. In its official notice, the council said the exam was to be conducted at 1,028 centres across Maharashtra. It added that after the irregularities reported during the NEET 2026 examination, several security measures had already been put in place to ensure the fair conduct of the TET. However, based on confidential information received early on June 27, Bhiwandi Police raided a location where some people were allegedly found with information related to the question paper. During verification, MSCE officials found that some of the recovered questions matched the TET June 2026 paper. A criminal case has since been registered, and the council said it had postponed the examination to ensure complete transparency and allow for a detailed investigation.

When will the new MAHA TET exam date be announced?

MSCE has not announced a revised examination date yet. The council has only said that the fresh date will be published later on its official website. Candidates have been advised to keep checking the portal for updates.

Will candidates have to download a fresh admit card?

The council has not clarified whether the hall tickets already issued for the June 28 examination will remain valid or whether fresh admit cards will be released. Candidates who downloaded their admit cards after they were released on June 16 should keep them safely until MSCE issues further instructions.

Will the exam pattern change?

There has been no announcement of any change in the examination pattern. As per the existing notification, MAHA TET will continue to be conducted in offline mode. Both Paper I and Paper II will have 150 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. Candidates will get two hours and 30 minutes to complete each paper, and there is no negative marking.

Will candidates get a refund?

So far, MSCE has not announced any refund of the examination fee. The official notice only confirms that the examination has been postponed. It does not mention refunds for examination fees or compensation for travel or accommodation expenses. Candidates should wait for any further announcement from the council before making assumptions. MSCE has said that all updates related to the revised examination date and other announcements will be published on the official MAHA TET website. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official communication and avoid rumours while the investigation into the suspected paper leak continues.
