New Zealand and Switzerland will set up a Trade and Investment Dialogue covering trade, economic security, e-commerce, investment and sustainability.
The process could shape policy signals watched by exporters, importers, apparel manufacturers and sourcing teams.

Todd McClay, New Zealand Trade and Investment Minister, said two-way trade between the countries was worth NZ$1.88 billion ($1.13 billion) in the year ending December 2025. New Zealand’s exports to Switzerland totalled NZ$429 million, made up of NZ$100 million in goods and NZ$324 million in services, with key exports including travel services, meat and edible offal, and hides and skins.
McClay said New Zealand imported NZ$1.45 billion from Switzerland over the same period, comprising NZ$624 million in goods and NZ$825 million in services. Key imports included transportation services, pharmaceuticals, clocks and watches, insurance and pension services, and charges for the use of intellectual property.
The first official-level meeting in September will start the dialogue process. McClay said the framework will support closer economic cooperation and collaboration through bilateral trade and international forums such as the World Trade Organization and the FIT Partnership.
