New Zealand’s Mark Patterson is visiting Bharat Tex 2026 to promote premium strong wool to India’s textile supply chain.
India is New Zealand’s second-largest wool market, with growers and exporters seeing scope for further growth in natural fibre demand.
New Zealand is backing 25 projects to build higher-value wool uses in acoustics, insulation, filtration and biotech ingredients.
According to a release by the New Zealand government, Patterson will meet key figures in India’s wool supply chain, including India’s Textile Minister, manufacturers and researchers. It added that new demand opportunities are emerging for strong wool as consumers and brands recognise the sustainability benefits of natural fibres.
The New Zealand government is investing more than $65 million with the wool sector in 25 projects to develop higher-value opportunities and products, support collaboration and improve supply-chain capability, according to the release. The projects include wool applications in acoustics, insulation, filtration, personal care and biotech ingredients such as inks, coatings, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and medical materials.
Patterson is due to return from India on July 17, with the visit focused on linking New Zealand strong wool with emerging demand for natural fibre-based products, the release concluded.
