The Philippines Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will open the Non-woven Textile Innovation Centre in its compound in Bicutan, Taguig, by January next, DOST secretary Renato Solidum Jr said.
DOST and its partners have developed non-woven materials for healthcare, construction, agriculture and filtration.
He called for harnessing natural fibres and sustainable materials for next-gen products.
“Their efficient manufacturing process makes them highly versatile, cost-effective and ideal for a wide range of industrial applications,” he was quoted as saying by a domestic media outlet.
DOST and its partners have developed non-woven materials designed for healthcare, construction, agriculture, filtration, mobility among others.
He urged participants at an event in Quezon City to harness the country’s natural fibres and sustainable materials for next-generation products, as well as support stronger partnerships within the industry.
