Cotton yarn prices were hovering to previous levels despite import duty relief for textile industry. Duty exemption may increase cotton availability in the country. Therefore, cotton prices may come under pressure if imports really happen. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “Spinning mills are likely to hold cotton yarn prices at current levels. Mills are not inclined to reduce their selling prices, as they have sufficient export orders for the next three to four months. However, local demand for cotton yarn has weakened further following the removal of import duty on cotton.”
