North India cotton yarn sees mixed trend, Ludhiana prices up



North India cotton yarn sees mixed trend, Ludhiana prices up

Cotton yarn prices gained by ****;* per kg in Ludhiana market. The movement was mainly driven by recent spike in cotton market. Cotton yarn export prospects and better local demand also pushed up prices. A trader from Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “Spinning mills are inclined to export market as weaker rupee against US dollar makes export sale more lucrative. Local demand is also picking up gradually. Upcoming festival season may drive cotton yarn demand up to some extent.”

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg and ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.

However, Delhi market noted steadiness amid slow to average demand from downstream industry. According to market sources, prospects did not improve in the national capital. Domestic demand remained quite slow, and mills are focusing on export market as earlier. Garment export orders are still very limited to drive textile value chain. Current geopolitical situation remained serious worry for textile and garment industry.

In Delhi, ** count combed knitting yarn was traded at ****;******(~$*.***.**) per kg (GST extra), ** count combed at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to market sources.
