North India cotton yarn steady amid garment export concerns

Cotton yarn prices remained stable in this week after increase in the last week. Demand from downstream industry was almost average. A trader from the Delhi market told Fibre*Fashion, “Spinning mills are trying to hold cotton yarn prices. Slight positivity is coming from the cotton supply side, but there is no support from the demand side. Buyers are purchasing cotton yarn only for immediate requirements or to maintain minimal inventories. There has been no significant buying interest in the market. Garment exports to the US continue to face uncertainty, and recent proposals for higher tariffs have raised concerns across the textile value chain.”

In Delhi, ** count combed knitting yarn was traded at ****;***–***(~$*.**–*.**) per kg (GST extra), ** count combed at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, ** count carded at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, and ** count carded at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg today, according to market sources.

Similarly, cotton yarn prices remained at previous levels in the Ludhiana market. Market sources echoed a similar sentiment, saying that the cotton yarn market was finding support mainly from the supply side. Global cotton prices have witnessed significant fluctuations due to various factors, although improved demand cannot be ignored. Traders said the market is currently undergoing a consolidation phase.

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg and ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.
