A case has been registered against the principal and two teachers of a school in Maharashtra’s Jalna district over allegations related to a performance held during the institution’s annual gathering earlier this year. The Partur police registered the case on Thursday against principal Wazhiyoddin Siddiqui and two other staff members of Kids World English School. The case has been filed under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections dealing with acts affecting the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India, promoting enmity between groups, spreading misinformation affecting national integration, and circulating false information likely to cause public alarm. The controversy began after several social media posts claimed that students of the school had performed a dance to a Pakistani song during the annual gathering held in March 2025. The posts also alleged that a photograph of Pakistani extremist Mumtaz Qadri was displayed during the performance. The issue soon attracted political attention. Local BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar demanded action against the school management and called for the cancellation of the school’s recognition. However, the school administration has strongly denied the allegations. Principal Siddiqui said the music used during the programme was from the popular Turkish television serial Ertugrul Ghazi and not a Pakistani song.“The image shown during the performance was of an actor from ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’. Some persons tampered with the visuals and circulated misleading content on social media,” he told reporters.According to the school, the claims being circulated online do not accurately represent what was shown during the event.Police officials said an investigation is underway to verify the allegations and establish the facts surrounding the programme and the content that was later shared on social media.
