For most people, a food delivery is a routine part of the day. However, one delivery in Pune turned into a moment of compassion when a customer noticed that the Swiggy delivery executive had arrived with her three-year-old daughter in the midst of heavy monsoon rain. Moved by the sight, the customer handed her a huge tip – a gesture that has since sparked conversations online about motherhood, gig work, and kindness.

A rainy delivery that touched hearts

According to a report by Punekar News, Swiggy delivery partner Teena Choudhary has been working with the platform for nearly a year. On the day of the incident, she completed a delivery despite the rain, with her young daughter accompanying her.Seeing the little girl standing beside her, the customer decided to give Teena a Rs 1,000 tip in recognition of the challenges she was balancing as a working mother. For Teena, the gesture meant far more than the money – it made her feel that someone had acknowledged her daily struggles.

Why she chose delivery work

Teena said she left her previous job after becoming pregnant because it became difficult to balance a conventional workplace with childcare. She later joined Swiggy after her husband, who has been a delivery partner for more than five years, introduced her to the platform.“I was working elsewhere, but I had to leave my job after I became pregnant. I couldn’t continue with a regular job while taking care of my baby, so I joined Swiggy. Here, I am not answerable to anyone, and I can take my child along if I need to. I am also able to spend time with her while working,” she said, as quoted in the report. She added that the flexibility of delivery work allows her to earn a living while ensuring her daughter can stay with her whenever needed.

Customers often appreciate her efforts

Teena said many customers notice that her daughter accompanies her and often appreciate her determination. She also shared that although women delivery partners are still relatively few in Pune, she has always received support from restaurant staff, fellow delivery executives, and the Swiggy team whenever required.Disclaimer: This article is based on online reports, social media, and the statements attributed to the individuals concerned.
