Being fast and slender, the Southern black racer is often seen crossing roads, lawns, parks, and gardens in Florida. This snake has a smooth black body and a white chin. The Southern Black Racer is named in this way because this snake does not use venom as a means of self-defence; instead, it prefers using its great speed in order to escape from threats. It feeds on insects, frogs, lizards, rodents, and other small snakes.
