South India cotton yarn sees good demand, firm tone noticed

Mumbai cotton yarn market witnessed good demand and spinning mills remained positive on market outlook. Cotton yarn prices were hovering to the previous levels. A trader from Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Ahead of festival season, cotton yarn demand further improved. Spinning mills are bullish on good demand and strong cotton prices. Spinning mills and stockists may push up cotton yarn prices.” Festival season is set to push garment demand in the whole country.

In Mumbai, ** carded yarns of warp and weft varieties were traded at ****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) and ****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) per * kg (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices included ** combed warp at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, ** carded weft at ****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, and **/** combed warp at ****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, according to trade sources.

Cotton yarn saw positive tone in Tiruppur market also. Spinning mills are trying to raise effective prices by adjusting discounts. Market sources said that cotton yarn prices remained steady but demand from consumer industry picked up. Mills may carry over their selling rates for next month but they can increase actual rates by adjusting discounts when they find leverage.
