Total US non-farm payroll employment, which rose by 57,000, the unemployment rate, at 4.2 per cent, and the number of unemployed, at 7.1 million, changed little month on month in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The unemployment rate and the number of unemployed also changed little YoY in the month.
The labour force participation rate fell by 0.3 pp to 61.5 per cent in June.
Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services, social assistance and health care, a BLS press release said.
The labour force participation rate (LFPR) in the country decreased by 0.3 percentage point (pp) to 61.5 per cent in June, and the employment-population ratio edged down by 0.2 pp to 59 per cent. Both measures changed little YoY.
Employment showed little or no change MoM in June in major industries, including oil and gas extraction; construction; manufacturing; wholesale trade; retail trade; transportation and warehousing; and financial activities.
