Actor and digital creator Yashaswini Dayama has shared an emotional note following the demise of her father, veteran actor Ramakant Daayama, who passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 69 after a prolonged illness.On Tuesday, June 9, Yashaswini took to Instagram to remember her father and thank fans, colleagues, and well-wishers for the outpouring of love and support received by her family during this difficult time.Sharing a family photograph, the actress admitted that she had been struggling to find the words to publicly address her father’s passing.“Been really dreading having to make this post… or rather any post. Felt like I had to be a certain kind of ready and make a heartfelt tribute… and we’re not there yet,” she wrote.Expressing gratitude for the messages and memories shared by those who knew and admired her father, she added, “But thought I must express the immense gratitude my family and I feel for all the love and memories you have shared of dad. 🙏🏻 Thank you for recognising this Rockstar.”

A versatile actor across films, theatre and OTT

Ramakant Daayama was a familiar face across films, television, theatre, and digital platforms. Over the years, he earned appreciation for his authentic performances and his ability to bring emotional depth to character-driven roles.The veteran actor featured in several notable films and web series, including Chak De! India, Ram Setu, Mumbai Saga, Crew, Farzi, and Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. He was also remembered for his performances in Dhanak and several acclaimed theatre productions.His most recent appearance was in the award-winning short film Thursday Special, alongside Anubha Fatehpuria. The film was presented by acclaimed filmmakers Shoojit Sircar and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Industry mourns the loss

Daayama’s demise came as a shock to many in the entertainment industry and among his fans, who remembered him as a dedicated performer and a warm human being.He is survived by his family, including daughter Yashaswini Dayama, who is known for her work in films such as Dear Zindagi and the popular web series Adulting.
