Rahul Vishwanath Karad calls yoga India’s greatest gift at Pune event

PUNE: Emphasising the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being, Dr Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Executive President of MIT World Peace University, said that yoga is India’s greatest gift to the world and should become a part of everyone’s daily routine.He was speaking at the university’s celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga, held on the campus on Sunday. The theme for this year’s observance was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”Addressing students, faculty members and staff, Dr Karad said yoga helps individuals lead a balanced and stress-free life. “Yoga is the most valuable gift India has given to the world for physical and mental health. Every individual should adopt yoga in daily life,” he said.The programme included a yoga training and demonstration session conducted by yoga expert Anup Murali, who guided participants through various practices and explained their health benefits. The event was organised under the guidance and blessings of Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad, Founder President of MIT-WPU.Dr Karad said the university has integrated yoga into student development initiatives. “Students at this university are being trained in yoga. As a result, they are developing both physically and mentally. MIT-WPU is a unique university that provides structured yoga training to its students,” he said.Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr R M Chitnis highlighted the broader significance of yoga beyond physical fitness. “Yoga is important for humanity because it promotes unity and reflects the true meaning of human values. It is one of the greatest gifts that nature has bestowed upon humankind,” he said.Among those present were Chief Administrative Officer Dr Prasad Khandekar and Dr Pallavi Kavhane. Students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically in the yoga session and pledged to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for better health and well-being.
