BGMEA, OCAIB discuss Chinese investment in Bangladesh’s RMG sector

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh (OCAIB) have discussed opportunities for joint investment, technology modernisation and sustainable industrial development in Bangladesh’s readymade garment sector.The discussions focused on strengthening backward linkage industries, creating a business-friendly policy environment, promoting circular fashion, expanding renewable energy use, advancing carbon trading and adopting artificial intelligence-based technologies to support the global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel industry. 

BGMEA leaders reaffirmed support for partnerships between local entrepreneurs and Chinese investors, while the OCAIB delegation expressed interest in expanding investment, technology transfer and technical cooperation.

BGMEA and OCAIB discussed joint investment, technology modernisation and sustainable development for Bangladesh’s readymade garment sector.
Talks covered backward linkages, circular fashion, renewable energy, carbon trading and AI-based technologies.
OCAIB expressed interest in investment, technology transfer and technical cooperation with local apparel entrepreneurs.

Both sides said such collaboration could help make Bangladesh’s apparel industry more innovative, sustainable and globally competitive.
