Exports of non-knitted apparel and clothing accessories under HS Chapter ** recorded stronger growth of *.* per cent, reaching $*.*** billion against $*.*** billion a year earlier. The cumulative performance indicates broad-based expansion across Cambodia’s garment industry.
In June ****, total apparel exports inched up by *.** per cent YoY to $*,***.*** million from $*.*** billion in the same month of ****. Knitted garment exports remained almost steady at $***.*** million, while exports of non-knitted apparel increased by *.* per cent to $***.*** million. The divergent performance suggests that demand for woven garments remained relatively resilient, while knitted apparel shipments faced greater pressure in key export markets.
On the raw material side, import trends reflected changing sourcing patterns, within Cambodia’s textile and garment supply chain. Imports of knitted or crocheted fabrics under HS Chapter ** were slightly higher by *.* per cent YoY to $*.*** billion during January-June ****, compared with $*.*** billion, a year-ago. Imports of man-made fibres also edged up by *.* per cent to $***.*** million.
