The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and Cambodia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade cooperation and exploring new economic opportunities as the latter prepares for its LDC graduation in 2029.
At a meeting at the EFTA secretariat in Geneva, both sides discussed strengthening trade ties, identifying areas for deeper collaboration and supporting Cambodia’s economic transition.
At a meeting at the EFTA secretariat in Geneva, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul discussed with EFTA secretary general Kurt Jaeger ways to enhance trade relations and further expand cooperation between Cambodia and EFTA member states.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade ties, identifying potential areas for deeper collaboration, and supporting Cambodia’s economic transition as it moves toward a new stage of development beyond its LDC status, an EFTA release said.
Both sides highlighted the significance of maintaining a rules-based multilateral trading system.
Through closer collaboration, Cambodia and EFTA aim to contribute to greater trade connectivity, economic resilience, and mutual growth in the years ahead.
