EU definitive anti-dumping duties of 60 to 67.6 per cent now apply to polyamide yarn imports from China after a dumping probe.
The European Commission says dumped prices injured EU producers employing about 2,000 people in Croatia, Italy, Spain, Romania and Slovenia.
The affected yarns are used in outerwear, sportswear, hosiery, swimwear, home furnishing and medical applications.
The definitive duties range from 60 per cent to 67.6 per cent, following an investigation that found imports of polyamide yarns from China were entering the EU at dumped prices, the European Commission said in a press release.
The commission said the dumped imports are causing injury to the EU’s own industry, which directly employs some 2,000 people in Croatia, Italy, Spain, Romania and Slovenia.
It put the EU market for polyamide yarns at €400 million (~$468 million).
The release was issued by the Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security in Brussels and categorised the case under anti-dumping and trade defence, with China listed as the country or region.
For textile exporters, importers, apparel manufacturers and sourcing teams, the measure applies to a yarn input used across performance apparel and selected home furnishing and medical applications.
