The monthly CPI decline was led by energy, where prices dropped 4.2 per cent after a 0.6 per cent rise in May, with petroleum products down 7.0 per cent after a 1.9 per cent decline. Food prices fell by 0.3 per cent over the month after a 0.3 per cent increase, while services rose by 0.5 per cent after being stable.
France’s CPI declined 0.3 per cent month on month in June 2026, while annual inflation eased to 1.8 per cent from 2.4 per cent in May.
Clothing and footwear prices fell 2.3 per cent year on year, linked to seasonal-sales calendar effects.

Year on year, energy prices slowed to an 11.0 per cent rise from 16.6 per cent in May. Services inflation eased to 1.9 per cent from 2.1 per cent and food inflation to 0.9 per cent from 1.1 per cent, according to the release.
The release also showed core inflation declining to 1.0 per cent year on year in June from 1.5 per cent in May. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices fell 0.3 per cent over the month and rose 2.0 per cent year on year after a 2.8 per cent annual increase in May.
