Trade body BGMEA recently signed a strategic partnership agreement with HSBC to expand Bangladesh apparel sector’s global footprint through joint market-expansion initiatives.
The two sides will organise a major apparel roadshow in Hong Kong to connect exporters from Bangladesh with global buyers, brands and business partners.
The partnership will also leverage the upcoming Bangladesh Textile Expo.

The partnership will also leverage the upcoming Bangladesh Textile Expo (BATEXPO) to promote the country’s apparel and textile sector at home and abroad.

HSBC’s extensive global banking network and strong relationships with international buyers would help attract new sourcing partners that are not importing garments from Bangladesh now, thereby widening the country’s export base, BGMEA president Mahmud Hasan Khan was cited as saying at the signing ceremony by domestic media outlets.

HSBC Bangladesh chief executive officer Mohammad Mahbub-ur-Rahman reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the long-term growth of the country’s RMG sector.

He urged BGMEA to prioritise key areas, including market diversification, supply chain efficiency and raising Bangladesh’s share in the global apparel market.
