Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron called for early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as both leaders met yesterday in Nice.

Both agreed to set up a high-level mechanism to double bilateral trade within five years and strengthen supply chain resilience.

The leaders also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the small medium enterprises (SME), aviation and railway sectors.

They discussed expanding cooperation on artificial intelligence (AI) and agreed to create a joint India-France AI working group for the purpose.
