North India cotton yarn stable but demand slows amid falling crude oil

Cotton yarn prices were stable after increase in the last week in Ludhiana market. Buying from consumer industry also slowed down in the last couple of days. A trader from Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “Falling crude oil after ease in tension in the Middle East discouraged buying of cotton yarn. Cheaper crude oil makes polyester fibre more affordable, resulting pressure on cotton and its yarn. Traders preferred to hold their buying amid falling crude oil as they expect price ease in cotton yarn.”

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg and ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.

Meanwhile, cotton yarn prices were stable in Delhi market. The market noticed average demand to support current price rise. Market sources said that volatile geopolitical situation is denting confidence in textile value chain. Limited orders of garment exports was the key issue for value chain. Although domestic demand improved ahead of festival season, it was not enough to elevate sentiment in Delhi cotton yarn market.

In Delhi, ** count combed knitting yarn was traded at ****;******(~$*.***.**) per kg (GST extra), ** count combed at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and ** count carded at ****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg today, according to market sources.
